Some Good News!

If this is true, it's awesome news for me...

An Empty Mirror

An empty mirror and your worst destructive habits,
when they are held up to each other,
that's when the real making begins.
That's what art and crafting are.

A tailor needs a torn garment to practice his expertise.
The trunks of trees must be cut and cut again
so they can be used for fine carpentry.

Your doctor must have a broken leg to doctor.
Your defects are the ways that glory gets manifested.

  1. Well Ruth, I have to say, I do prefer a blank canvas to a torn one :-)

I do understand your view. There are times when we need to be encouraged to grow. Be well!

  2. Dr. J.,

    Encouragement is always welcome.

But also, I feel that often our most priceless treasures are wrapped up in what we hate about ourselves.

And also, when we have humility, lack of pride and acceptance, I think that's when the Higher (God, if that works for you) works through us.

Hope you are well, too :-)

  3. I want to tell you that I had made a ceramic horse a while ago, and it sat unpainted on my office shelf. A couple of days ago, I was looking at it and decided to finally paint it. I used your husband's painting of the "blue" horse and rider as my inspiration!

  4. Dr. J.,

    Awesome!

Did you see our "new" website (still not finished): www.mkahhak.com?

It's good that you have art/creativity as an outlet--what you do for a living is demanding, precise and stressful (though no doubt rewarding).

I think it's good to have pursuits in one's life that are free from the need to "do things right".
