Most of the time, I love my in-color, vivid dreams. Occasionally, I'm glad to wake up from them!
Dr. J.,Me too!I was thinking of this poem as kind of having a double meaning--it could be waking up from ordinary sleep, or waking up from complacency, which is good, but often painful.I enjoy condensing long, rambling and complex thoughts and feelings into simple and minimalist poetry. It's an enjoyable hobby for me.
I write poetry also. Occasionally I put one on my column. Sometimes I go back and read stuff from years ago. Interesting, it can really say a lot about how I was feeling at the time.
Dr. J.,If you want to write poetry for fun, AND get feedback about it, check out this site: http://www.zoetrope.com/. I've been posting there since 2003 (sometimes a lot, sometimes barely). You can post poetry, fiction, etc., and also review others works. It's fun.
